Two state troopers from the Brighton barracks had a little extra surprise on the job Monday morning--they helped a woman deliver a baby in her car when she and her husband couldn't get to the hospital in time.
The couple had been on their way to Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge when they got lost and stuck in traffic. Trooper Frank Parker, a 28-year veteran, helped deliver the baby while Trooper John Arone assisted the very nervous father. The baby was born safely only minutes after the troopers had arrived, and EMS transported the family to Mount Auburn Hospital minutes later. All three family members are doing well, thanks to the help of two state troopers who kept their cool.
